Nook Camp

Nook Camp

Through revealing the regional ecological processes while celebrating the Modern and contemporary Arab Art, this project strives to promote cultural and environmental literacies at multiple levels. These processes are matched in the material choices, the program adjacencies, and the overall concept by providing a design that characterizes the values and identity of the place and serves as an integral part of the working ecological systems for the benefit of the users of Barjeel Art Foundation.

Our proposal views architecture as an instrument to guide people to build a story as they experience the site. Whether it is a tourist or a local from Al Trafa, the building addresses all sorts of visitors in an open end experience where there are multiple ways to enter and exit the building.

The program is defined by a series of thresholds where people meet for different collaborative work and events such as research, lecture, and recreate. These thresholds also offer spaces of sensory experiences that represents the four different ecologies of UAE, the desert, the mountains, the wetlands, and the coast.
